What should I expect at my first appointment?
- A detailed case history will be taken. Occasionally it is necessary to refer you back to your GP.
- You are welcome to bring someone with you and children must have a parent /guardian with them.
- Wearing loose stretchy clothes makes it easier to assess and treat without having to remove clothing.
- A few simple tests will be performed to confirm diagnosis.
- Treatment is gentle, and involves moving and stretching muscles, ligaments and joints; and light pressure. If at any point you feel uncomfortable with a technique, speak up as your comfort in paramount.
- As the body adapts after the treatment, you may experience aches. These can be minimized by drinking water and/or an Epsom salts bath.
How many treatments will I need?
- There is no set number. Many people only need one treatment (usually for an acute injury). However you respond to treatment, you will be fully involved in the treatment plan.
How long will an appointment take?
- Initial treatments take longer, approximately 45-60 minutes, and depends on the complexity of your medical history.
- Follow on treatments last approximately 30 minutes.
